Overview
A Visa under EU Regulations allows family members of an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen to travel to Denmark while accompanying or joining their relative who is exercising their right to free movement in Denmark.
This visa application is processed free of charge and follows an accelerated procedure, typically concluding within 15 days, except in exceptional cases.
Important:
- This visa is only applicable to family members of EU/EEA or Swiss citizens.
British citizens and their family members are no longer eligible under EU free movement rules.
Eligibility
A visa will be granted if the applicant can prove that:
- The EU/EEA or Swiss citizen has exercised or plans to exercise their right to free movement in Denmark.
- The applicant is a qualifying family member of the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen.
A visa may be refused if the applicant is considered a threat to public order, security, or health.
Qualifying Family Members:
- Spouse or registered partner (aged 18 or over).
- Direct descendants (children, grandchildren, etc.) under the age of 21 of the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen or their spouse/partner.
- Dependent direct descendants over the age of 21.
- Dependent parents or grandparents of the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen or their spouse/partner.
- Other dependent family members (e.g., siblings, cousins) who lived in the same household as the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen in their previous country of residence.
- Family members with serious health conditions, where personal care from the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen is essential.
Processing Time
- Applications are processed as quickly as possible, usually within 15 days, unless exceptional circumstances arise.

Documents Required
Application Documents:
- Completed and signed visa application form (ApplyVisa cover letter). Signature must match the passport.
- Valid passport (original + copy of all pages). If available, provide previous passport copies showing Schengen visas and entry stamps.

UK Residency
- Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
Proof of EU/EEA/Swiss Nationality
- Copy of the EU/EEA or Swiss citizen’s passport (original must be shown at submission).
Proof of Family Relationship
- Marriage certificate, birth certificate, or other official proof of family ties (original must be shown).
Proof of Travel Together or Joining the EU/EEA/Swiss Citizen
- Any one of the following documents:
- Flight or hotel reservations
- Invitation letter from the EU/EEA/Swiss family member
- Any supporting document proving travel together
Minors (Under 18 Years Old)
- Original birth certificate, showing names of both parents.
- If one parent has sole custody:
- Birth certificate mentioning only one parent, OR
- Death certificate of the absent parent, OR
- Court ruling granting sole custody.
- Passports of both parents (originals required). If applicable, proof of UK residency for parents.
- Written parental consent for travel.
Additional Notes :
- Missing documents must be submitted within 5 calendar days of application submission.
- Travel insurance and proof of funds are NOT required for this visa type.
- It is strongly advised not to purchase flight tickets before visa approval unless specifically required under consulate agreements.

- Size: 35mm x 45mm
- Head Length: Between 30mm and 36mm (from chin to top of hair)
- Color: Must be in color with a bright background
- Quality: Clear, high resolution, and free from shadows or reflections
